Why a Private Driver Makes Sense for Wadi Shab
The logistics are harder than they look.
Wadi Shab is not served by public transport. Taxis from Muscat are available but expensive, and most drivers will not wait. What to Bring

Best Time to Go
October to April is the main season. Temperatures are between 25°C and 32°C — warm but manageable for hiking and swimming.
May and September are hot. Go early. Leave before noon.
June, July, August — the wadi is open but the midday heat makes the exposed sections of the trail genuinely uncomfortable. If you visit in summer, depart no later than 7 AM and plan to be back at the car by 11 AM.
Fridays are busy — local families fill the wadi and the boat queue can be long. If you have flexibility, a weekday visit is quieter.
