Typical routes with a private driver
Interior circuit: Nizwa, Jebel Akhdar and Wahiba Sands
A common multi-day loop is Muscat to Nizwa, then Jebel Akhdar and Wahiba Sands, returning to Muscat. Nizwa is about 160 km and around two hours from Muscat under normal conditions.
Jebel Akhdar access requires an eligible 4WD at the police checkpoint. Off-road access in Wahiba Sands may require an appropriate 4WD and an experienced driver. A 4WD is not automatic on every booking; it is arranged when the confirmed itinerary needs it.
Coastal route: Wadi Shab, Sur and Ras Al Jinz
The southeastern coast includes Wadi Shab, Bimmah Sinkhole, Sur and Ras Al Jinz. Wadi access can change after rain. Do not enter a flooded wadi. Your driver will advise on conditions for the booked date.
Jebel Shams and Wadi Ghul
Jebel Shams is Oman’s highest mountain area, with Wadi Ghul below. Some sections are steep and narrow. A 4WD may be recommended depending on the exact route and conditions. It is not required for every mountain journey. Weather can affect access; confirm conditions when you book.
Cross-border travel between Oman and Dubai
Chauffeur Muscat operates sedan transfers between Muscat and Dubai. Muscat to Dubai is OMR 110. Dubai to Muscat: From OMR 120. The final cross-border price is confirmed in writing based on pickup, destination, date and border requirements.
